Why Wilted Laurels?

  • Strategy, not just a list. We're here to help you build a plan and analyze your whole festival campaign—where to submit and where a laurel actually means something.
  • No pay-to-rank. Festivals don't buy their place or "gold status."
  • You can check our work. Scores tie to rules and sources when we have them. No black box: built by filmmakers who wanted data they could trust.
  • Verified community. We ask for verification links at sign up so we only accept real humans. This protects our forthcoming community ratings from fake accounts.
  • Personalized strategies: Oscar Hunter, Travel Hacker, Genre King, and more. We help you target festivals that match your goals.

Frequently asked questions

What is Wilted Laurels?
We rank film festivals and help you build a festival strategy. We offer a Festival Circuit 101 guide, named strategies with reality checks, and The Laurel Oracle for personalized tiered targets and sequencing.
How do I find the right festival strategy?
Read Festival strategies for the primer and the ten named approaches. Use The Laurel Oracle for step-by-step questions that match your film to tiered targets and a suggested order. Log in for the Submission tracker so your history can inform nudges over time.
Do festivals pay to be listed?
No. Festivals don't buy their place. We don't take money from festivals to list them or bump their score. Rankings come from our published criteria and from public or cited data only.
How do you make money?
We don't right now. It's a research project. If that changes, we'll say so.
Why these criteria?
We use measures that line up with real outcomes: how long a festival's been around, Oscar/BAFTA qualifying, scale, engagement, selectivity. It's all defined on How we score—you can see how we apply it.
How often is data updated?
We add festivals and data every day. Big changes to methodology or definitions go on the model page.
